Project One was a study in the basics. Students were engaged in learning color, patterns, shapes, symmetry and more as they create a doorway that opens into a world that they will create for project two. For now, enjoy the start of your journey to other worlds by simply walking through the door...
Project Two is a lesson about transitions. Students were challenged to take four different mediums and transition/mix them so that they appeared seamless. Below the power point presentation are compositions that students wrote that connects with their art work that further explains their thinking.
The Storyteller
By Andrea
The story begins in a restaurant. Not an ordinary restaurant, but a restaurant with music and the smell of homemade food filling the air. There is also a man…and just like the restaurant this man is not ordinary. Not a single living thing knows his name… or is it her?
Anyways back to the story. He (or her) is a storyteller, and just like everything else he isn’t ordinary. Everyone comes for the food, and stays for the stories. The stories are always full of suspense, action, happiness, sadness, humor etc. Some are true, and some are fictional. This mysterious storyteller has been telling stories ever since the restaurant opened. The restaurant was opened 50 years ago. The owner was connected to the storyteller. There were rumors small, and tall. For example one tall rumor was that the storyteller was the owner, and he faked his own death. But then again it is just a rumor.
Back to the stories he told. The storyteller was very old, so he knew all kinds of stories that he himself had listened to previously, either decades ago or perhaps yesterday. Since his stories were always intriguing the restaurant was full of customers. The restaurant made a lot of money yet they never made the restaurant space bigger. So due to that, the restaurant was a can of sardines, but instead of a can it was the restaurant, and instead of the sardines they were humans.
There was also a long line outside the doors. Clearly the stories were worth something. People also came very early in the morning, but not enough people to make the restaurant full. The storyteller also told common folk tales, like Cinderella, or Snow White. But as before when he told the stories there was something about his voice, his passion that made the story different. He also described the setting very clearly. From the color of the sky to the amount of stitches there were on Cinderella’s rag clothes. This could sometimes get annoying, but people dealt with it and listened intently.
The storyteller always showed up to work. Never has he missed a day, and never has anyone seen him sick. Well that could be because of the fact that he always wore his hat. So maybe they hadn't heard it in his voice, but if he didn't have his hat on they would see clearly if he was sick or not.
Anyways, whenever the storyteller told a story there would be musicians playing in the background. Of course they weren't playing random music, but music that went along with the scene. Like connecting puzzle pieces…they just fit. The fact that the storyteller’s background and overall identity made the restaurant mysterious… and due to the results, people like mysterious.
One day the storyteller didn't show up. Everyone was surprised and confused, wondering why he wasn't there. Then something weird happened. A news reporter made an article about finding the owner of the famous storytelling restaurant! Everyone was shocked, and now believed that the rumor was true. Weeks passed, and there was no sign of the storyteller. The owner claimed to have amnesia and was lost for the past 50 years. So the owner of the restaurant fired the manager and took over. He used the money they have saved over the decades and made the restaurant bigger. Many people didn’t come to the restaurant, but still enough to make it almost full. Of course the mysterious story of the owner coming and the storyteller not showing up made customers attracted like a moth to a light in the darkness.
Months passed and the mystery thrill died down, but the restaurant was still up and running. A detective was hired by the restaurant to figure out what happened to the storyteller. The detective couldn’t find any clues to why the storyteller left, and where he was. Months passed and the detective was about to give up when he stumbled upon a clue… literally. He tripped into the wall, and on that wall was a painting… and when he fell into the painting it ripped. The detective got up, and saw that the rip revealed a box.The box had the storyteller’s id, his legal papers, and an opened letter with a piece of paper that said: Your plane ticket purchase is successful //////////. The name was scratched out. The detective checked the photo on the storyteller’s id. It looked exactly like the owner. The detective was surprised and excited, he couldn't wait to tell someone. But then a thought came to the detective’s head, if the owner hid all of his information he wouldn't want it to be found. The detective decided to tell a news reporter, but specifically told the reporter not to mention his name. The next morning the reporter released an article about the new information. Everyone was talking about it.
Then another strange thing happened. The owner didn't show up for work, but the storyteller did. Everyone rushed to the restaurant to see what would happen. The storyteller started his first story of the day, then the door burst open. It was the owner. Everyone kept on looking back and forth at them. The storyteller took off his hat and laid it on the floor. He looked exactly like the owner. Everyone was freaking out, but stayed in their seats. The owner walked up to the stage grabbed the microphone and started to say: “I would like to introduce and welcome back the storyteller, who was taking a vacation while I came back to work.” The owner continued to explain what happened. Turns out they were twins, and the owner had a bad case of memory loss and forgot a lot of things. That concludes the story…oh I almost forgot…. And they lived happily ever after… maybe the end.

The Door
by Sophie
Once upon a time there was a forest. A heavily wooded area. A place where lots of trees grow. A forest. A plain old ordinary forest, or so everyone thought.
“A few years ago there were 2 hikers exploring the forest” Grandma Anne started. She told the story the same from the very first time she told it, nothing ever changed. “ They were out of food and when they found the door and they were slowly starving. As they traversed through the forest they noticed that the plant life began to consist more of poison ivy and poisonous berries. In the beginning they found wondrously bright and colorful, perfectly edible berries and fruits. They took a few because the fruit showed no signs of stopping and so they decided to finish their rations first before indulging in the delights of the fruits. However they found that 5 miles in the fruits suddenly stopped and they were left with nothing but their slowly dwindling rations. They decided to keep going forward. However they found that this was a big mistake. As they went another week they found that their food was almost gone, but as they had a funny feeling that they were almost to another patch of fruit, they kept going forward. Soon their food ran out and they were barely even a able to fling one foot in front of the other. They began to get desperate as they came across something quite astounding. A door, reaching at least 10 feet tall and 5 feet wide, a door, that was connected to nothing but the ground, it was truly astonishing. The hikers decided to go around the door and see what the other side looked like. But when they tried to walk around it they found that there was an invisible barrier that blocked them from the other side. They were beginning to get anxious. They decided to try to go back and get help. But they ran into another barrier across the door. This time they kept touching the wall and they found that they were trapped in a giant invisible half-circle. Their empty stomachs made their minds groggy and it was hard for them to concentrate. Finely they just say down and looked at the door. Something told them that going in the door was a bad idea, so they just sat and looked at the door. They had not fully looked at it before and now they took in every detail. The door was mostly brown but it was covered in kite shaped figures that looked surprisingly like acorns. A very odd thing to find in a forest of nothing but bare trees, deserted of any edible plant or animal (except for one rabid fox they made sure to stay away from). Finally after a few hours they decided that maybe there might be something edible to put in their ravenous body’s. So they went in. they pulled open the giant doors and… “ “What Grandma!!” Gorgie shouted. “ … And they caught a glimpse of an acorn, a giant acorn, but only for a second because the light behind the acorn was so blinding, so hot that they were burned and shriveled to bits. Nobody has ever found them or tried to-for that matter-and the door has remained closed and silent, waiting for it’s next victim.

The Peaceful Town

There is a peaceful town called Talatala Macchiato not far from planet knnigterx4563. It is a peaceful day on December Friday the 13, 3093. It was a beautiful day with angry birds chirping the sun's out with no clouds, some might even say it was a perfect day. Up until the time of 1300 hours(1:00p.m). The whole city seemed to stop moving and go quiet while the city went into what soon will be war. All civilians were told to evacuate the city but little to none did evacuate. Families were torn apart and too many people died a slow ugly death in front of loved ones. Then the war began with the nation separated by only a small creek that is knee deep and infested with the deadliest fish and snakes known to man. Soldiers were afraid to fight in the war because they didn’t want to risk losing their lives and they wo weak to fight. But the Talatala’s didn’t believe the Nation From Across The Creek when they said they didn’t destroy their precious city. While the Talatala’s were off fighting the Nation From Across The Creek the Village Across The Pond did a surprise attack on Talatala Macchiato. Then once The Village From Across The Pond attacked the Talatala’s when they least expected it. It was nearly too late when they had attacked but it wasn’t too late the Talatala’s came in the back side of the city and killed nearly all the other rival soldiers while this happened the civilians were outside watching this huge massacre slowly unfold. The whole city was soon gone buildings were crumbling streets cracked people were killed but there was one person who thought he would be the one and only to save the city. He was slaying the enemy one by one watching the bloody body’s drop dead at his feet. But once he got to the leader of the other village he was very quickly killed. The leader and general of the other village survived and that was only the beginning.

Unfinished Story because Sheharzaad did not finish her story until the next night.

“Once upon a time, there was a magical door. What lead inside was a peaceful, delicious, untroubled land called Candy Land. But wait. This land is not always peaceful and untroubled. It all started two weeks ago.
Every Candy Landen was happy on this sun-drenched gorgeous afternoon. The lolli trees were gently swaying and the Jello pond was waving with clear, smooth ripples. Infact almost every Candy Landen was outside enjoying this day. Mr. Gingerbread and his son Gingie were digging for gummy worms. One of their most loved activities to see who could find the most bizarre colored worm. Gingie was running over to his favorite spot to catch the most superlative worms. Until CRACK!! A peppermint stick. Split into three red and white chunks. Only a sound the heaviest bipedal creature known to Candy kind could make. Could it be... A human!?
Gingie turned back! Swiveling his ginger head to see what had been going on. His father. Gone. What? This can’t be! Gingie wondered what was going on. He looked above to see something that made him quiver. Tremble and shake. Humans. Bunches of groups of humans. With arrows, scattered all over Candy Land.
Gingie ran like the wind. Running to the mayor's office to apprise him but immediately Mr. Mayor shouts “NO TIME! I feared this day would come! I feared someone would find the door! War has began. Take an arrow and fight!”
Gingie picked up an arrow off of the Kit Kat shelves and ran outside to what has turned into a miserable cloudy war zone. His teacher, Ms. Cherry Pie, oozing with blood. Gingie couldn't look. Where do I find my father? What are these creatures and what are they doing here? What do I do? Is father dead? NO! I need to find him! Questions and thoughts started to bubble into Gingies head.
Gingie scanned all around him for his father in the boisterous suddenly gloomy, rainy weather. It was no use. Gingie ran under a soaked lolli tree. He curled up into a ball and started to weep. SNAP! One tree made a big thud dropping onto another lolli tree. A snowball effect. Lolli trees snapping and cracking, faster and faster! Gingie jumped up, startled. Thump! Thump! Thump! The lolli trees were getting closer and closer to Gingie.
Will Gingie make it out in time? Will Gingie ever find his father? Would Gingie ever get out of this mess?”
“Well looks like it's time for me to die.” Sheharzaad said, ending the story.
“No!” The King flung his arm up to stop Shaharzaad. “You can live one more night. Please finish the story.”
“If you say so!” Sheharzaad replied, a small smile starting to stretch across her face.

Once upon a time there lived a legendary knight that went by the name of Justin Beaver. Now, Justin was a strange fellow, he was a HUGE man with a tiny head. One day Justin woke to the smell of smoke and went to check it out so he ripped the velvet curtains of his humble home open and looked out the window. All Justin could see was a large shadow casted all over the lands of Hentini so naturally he grabbed his 50 foot cleaver and walked outside, his cleaver dragging over his shoulder pulling up all the grass behind him. Justin saw a giant purple sphere blocking the entire sky. Suddenly the sphere opened and turned into a huge yellow eye as the body came to life and turned to a huge dragon come to life setting everything in its path on fire. Justin saw everyone in his town fleading as there houses were burnt to the ground. There were many screams then nothing it was as quiet as a mouse. Then a second later sound came back to him. Justin knew what he had to do... He had to kill the dragon. He lifted his mighty cleaver and landed five slices on the dragon. The dragon roared in pain but was still flying it happened to be bleeding snickers (the candy). Justin gave one final blow. The dragon fell to the ground motionless as every one that was still alive cheered. Then the chef came out and started to slice up the Dragon as snickers blood came flying out. World hunger was never the problem again and life was pretty great until a green fire went inside of the bones of the Dragon and it came to life 10 times more powerful than before - with Justin asleep, who will save the town? Well how about Justin’s Squire. The squire grabbed his pocketknife and threw it in the skeleton dragons mouth. But it went out the back the back of its skull not touching any part of his body. The dragon blew a giant flame at the squire and he died. All that was left of him was ashes. The dragon lived happily ever after eating villagers left and right.

Mysterious Maze

A young woman, Alexandra, was running late to her meeting. She loved her job as a photographer. She ran as fast as she could until she found herself running past a beautiful garden. She stepped into the garden just to take a few pictures and be on her way. She was so amazed that she didn’t realize how late she was and went further into the garden. It was getting dark and Alexandra got even more lost until she noticed the sun was going down. As fast as she possibly could, she tried to find a way out. The garden got scarier as it got darker, and it slowly turned into a maze. Panicking, she went faster, but soon realized she was lost, and the garden turned completely into a maze. She tried to be calm, and walk through the maze to get home. She walked passed what seemed to be some mysterious, evil creatures, but they were actually harmless. But she didn’t know that at the end of the horrifying maze lurked a terrible creature that she had to beat if she wanted to go home. Alexandra heard low growling, deep in the maze. She stopped and looked around. She had no clue where she was, but she knew that she was very close to the end. She started running, excited to finally be safe in her house. But she stopped. She knew something was close. She leaned against the edge of the hedge to take a small peek. Her eyes widened, and she couldn’t stop trembling. She found a giant, furious monster. It noticed Alexandra, and started charging right at her. Panicked, she started to think of a strategy. She realized what she had to do. She noticed the monster had a string tied to it. She quickly ran passed the monster and grabbed the other end of the string. The monster chased her, while she ran in random directions until he got tangled in the string. The string left a path that led to the exit. She calmly followed it out. When she finally stepped outside, the maze turned back into the garden it was like when she first walked in. She excitedly ran to her house, and immediately went to sleep. Everything was back to normal.

Once there was a door that opened up to a place where whatever you think it will happen or it will appear. One day two kids named Joe and Jolena saw this door and went inside. First it was a blank white space and then Jolena thought why can’t there be a snowman then a snowman appeared then she thought why can’t it snow then it snowed. Then Joe thought can it rain pizza then it rained pizza then he thought can a giant dog appear wearing clothes and it did. The Dragon and the sheep
by Carter
There was once a small village in the village there were many farmers. But all these farmers were sheep farmers and only made gowns for the Princess, Prince, Queen and King. They were all happy they liked pleasing the royalty. But then one day an evil dragon egg was hatched in a nearby cave near the village and a couple days it grew hungry so it ventured into the village and began eating sheep meanwhile the princess was in her carriage riding - surveying the farmers and picking out fabric for her new ball gown. Well when the the carriage pulled into the road where all the farmers houses where the dragon spotted her!!! It slowly crept up and just as the carriage was passing it’s hiding spot it grabbed one of her white horses and gobbled it down then gobbling the other 4. It decided “If this creature was with these other delicious animals it must taste just as good.” So it grabbed the princess in it’s jaws to take it to it’s cave to devour it later. You might be asking why not eat her now? Do dragons grab all their prey and save them for later? Or just the king’s daughter? Don’t worry this dragon was just like all the dragon’s from it’s time it doesn’t care if the prey is royalty or not. The only reason it didn’t eat her is because it had just had 5 horse and about 24-26 sheep it wasn’t very hungry. It planned to eat the princess later that night. But meanwhile back at the kingdom the King was hysterical and the Queen had gone into a state of horror and had not stopped crying since she heard the news. The king and Queen thought their daughter was dead but the kings clever son assured his parents that his sister and their daughter was OK. And said he would go find his sister and told them not to worry. They were in such distress that they said he could go his father provided him with a sword and armor but he said he didn’t need it for then the dragon would see him coming from faraway so he dressed in dirty rags to blend into the muddy ground. He slowly approached the mountains near the dragons caves and saw the dragon was sleeping so he crept up and he saw his sister. But she was all tied up. You might ask so the dragon tied her up? Yeah ‘cause that makes a lot of sense! Well i’m getting to that!! He didn’t tie her up with rope his tail was firmly wrapped around her waist while he slept. The brother slowly crept up in the dragon and tried to unwrap his sister from the tail but as the story goes he woke up the dragon! The princess started screaming and the prince cut off the dragon's tail in an attempt to free her. But that didn’t kill the dragon instead in just angered him!!! IN fact he was so mad at the prince that he completely forgot about the princess and chased after the prince. The prince ran and fumbled with his sword to try and slay the dragon. This chase went on for some time the prince went to hide in the bushes. The dragon finally got tired and still thinking the prince was defenseless and had ran away. And he laid to rest. He was careful to keep to keep his eyes open but after some time he grew dreary and couldn’t resist to shut his eyes. As he slept the prince came running back and with one slice chopped off his head. Then the Prince and the Princess lived happily ever after and one day the Prince ruled the kingdom and the Princess became a sheep farmer and was happy for the rest of her days.

The Underworld
By Gabari
My story is about how Nico Di’ Angelo, (son of Hades), takes Percy Jackson, (son of Poseidon god of the seas), to the Underworld. But it was a trick all along. Nico turned Percy into his father Hades, (god of death and riches), so his father would tell him about his mother. Hades’s furies take Percy to a jail, but Nico did not know his father would harm his friend Percy. After that, Hades took Percy to his dungeon and Percy had to stay there and spend the night. In the morning Percy woke up with his sword, (riptide) at Nico's neck, and his knee in his chest. Percy asked Nico “why he was here” and Nico said,”I came to free you I had no idea my dad would do this”. The two friends set out to escape the Underworld but the come across a black and purple river and Nico says”stop”. Nico says,”if you go in this river and survive you will bare the curse of Achilles”. Percy asks,”what is the curse of Achilles’. Nico says,” the curse of Achilles is when your whole body is as tough as steel except for one weak spot on your body”, “You might need this on your journey to fight Kronos”. Percy looks at the river and chooses what he wants to do. He chooses to jump in the river. He jumps and the river, it's burning hot and dark. Nico swats down and says,”come on Percy you can make it”. Percy is under the water and gurgling he is about to give up but…...

This is a story that goes back, but not too far. 10 people were missing, and the town was getting nervous. Criminals weren't anything new here, but this seemed different. Eerie images were being seen all over town, and people were connecting it to the disappearances, and coming up with conspiracies. My dad happened to be one of the 10, so I was extremely depressed. Nothing happened for a while then one day, on the day the 13th went missing, people found a door, just laying on the ground, covered in not so intricate designs. Our town was kind of boring, so boring news got around fast. After that, people went missing every day. I forget when, but I felt I had to see this door. When I got to the location of the door it wasn’t there. I wasn’t surprised, because i had been known to buy into rumors. It would have been the most peculiar thing I had ever seen. A door was just standing up in the middle of nowhere. I tried pushing it over to see if it was just balanced, but it was as if it were just there. I immediately ran home to tell my dad, but then I remembered what had happened to him. All of a sudden I felt tears coming to my eyes. Days passed and nothing happened. I expected the door to move, but every day it stayed, weird as ever. Then one day I snapped. The suspense had made me want to see what was inside. So one day, I walked up to the door and swung it open. What I saw amazed me. It was a long creaky bridge going over an infinite gap. I tried to run away, but when I looked back, there were brown, smudgy walls closing in on me. I was claustrophobic, so I ran as fast as I could, as far down the bridge as I could. All of a sudden I heard a creak that was way too loud. I fell. Off the bridge, hitting my nose on the way down. About 10 minutes into the free fall, I tried to look down. I thought I felt something, and it wasn’t until my nose was facing down, and I felt an extremely sharp pain, that I realized that I wasn’t moving. I wondered how that could be, when I saw some aliens that looked like they had come straight out of a cartoon. They picked me up, and led me too a room. All of a sudden I saw 18 people, each looking like I had seen them before. And that’s when I saw my dad. He didn’t look like my dad, and when I tried talking to him, he didn’t remember me, or anyone else that I talked about. But somehow I knew. That bearded man was my dad. Then i noticed a little spot of white on his neck. Then I realized, all of them had the spot. I then I remembered where I knew everyone from. They were the taken. All of a sudden, I was being dragged into another room. I was shoved onto a bed, and some weird blue slime was being force fed to me. After that, they just did routine stuff that would happen at any doctor's appointment. Then, they did stuff that would happen at the dentist, and after that, orthodontist. They went through everything, and then they put a mask on my face, and after that, I felt sleep over come me...

Holi
by Rohil
Today was the eve of Holi. (Holi is an Indian festival where you light a sacred fire to burn away all the evil, and hatred.) Jai and his sister Swarali were laying out the firewood in the place that the sacred would be lit. When Jai was carrying the last bushel of wood, he tripped on a stone in the path, and dropped the entire bushel of firewood on the muddy ground. As Jai got up Swarali looked down, and realized that the wood had gotten damp, so it wouldn’t be able to burn well.
“Oh man, we need to get more firewood, These won’t work!” exclaimed Swarali
“Don’t worry,” shrugged Jai “Why have plenty of time before they light the fire at sunset. It is only about noon. We’ll get more wood from the lumberjack at the edge of the village.”
“Ok.” replied Swarali
As Jai and Swarali walked towards the lumberjack, Swarali saw a beautiful bunny on the side of the road. Swarali stopped.
“Oh Jai,” Swarali squealed. “Look at that bunny”
“Yea,” Jai replied uninterested “What about it.”
“I want to keep it.” Swarali pleaded
“Fine. I’ll help you catch it.” Jai sighed.
Jai and Swarali Chased the bunny for hours, but they couldn’t ever catch up with it. Eventually Jai looked up, he realized that the sun was starting to dip low in the sky.
“Swarali! The sun is started to set” yelped Jai
Jai and Swarali dashed back to the road, and went down to the lumberjack, and fetched the firewood, and carefully walked back with it. They arrived just before it was time to light the fire.

Tunnel to Paradise
By Sadie C.
“Finders Keepers!” A little girl snickered as she ran away with her 4-year-old brother’s toy. “No!” Her brother sobbed. “No! No fair!” He ran after her. The girl ran through the meadow, the tall grass tickling her tiny 8-year-old arms. The grass was so tall that her brother could only see her hoodie bobbing up and down as she ran. Butterflies flew around them as the chase went on. The girl knew she couldn’t let her brother catch her, for she didn’t understand how much that toy meant to her brother, and thought they were just playing. Finally, when she got to the end of the tall grass meadow, she froze. Her parents told her to never go anywhere beyond the meadow, for beyond the meadow was a forest, with trees higher than the clouds, and had so much leaves and branches that not even a millimeter of sun shined through the giant, green, leafy, umbrellas. The girl looked behind her and saw the entire meadow behind her. It was so huge, she couldn’t see her house on the other side. “No point in turning back now,” The girl said under her breath. Right when her brother was about to catch her, she ran into the pitch-black woods. “No! No!” her brother followed her, for he was too young and didn’t know any better, and disobeyed his parents orders. The forest was cold, not like winter, but that kinda cold that is cold like water, and that makes sense, cause though the darkness of the forest made it impossible to see, the entire woods was filled with mist. The brother couldn’t run as fast as his sister, she ran track, cross country, and always got the highest score in the grade on the pacer. She was a nice girl, but aggressive, and most of the kids only wanted to be her friend because she could stand up to bullies, and believe me, one of her favorite things was revenge, whether it was hers, or her friends. Four kids this year have come home with a bloody nose, five with scratches and bruises all over, and two with twisted ankles, all because of their bullying, and because of the child’s love for revenge, and it’s only October. “Ha ha!” the girl laughed as she jumped over tree stumps and roots. Her brother couldn’t keep up. He tried to sprint faster, but he tripped over a stump and fell into a cave. “Help!” he cried, and though his sister loves getting into trouble, she does have common sense to help someone in need. So she climbed down to the cave to help him. But a sparkly piece of gold caught her eye. The children walked towards the golden wonder slowly, until they could make out the shape. It was a door. The drawings on the door were so delicate and perfect, it looked impossible that any human could draw such a lovely one. The door was deep into the cave that the brother fell in, and it was surrounded by beautiful water dripping out of the silver stones.
She and her brother walked towards the door with wonder shining in their eyes, or it was perhaps just the gold reflecting off their eyes. “Let’s go check it out!” The girl smiled as she opened the door. She saw nothing but a silver glow. “Scary! No go!” The brother cried, but his sister dragged him in any way. On the other side of the door was a tunnel of trees. The siblings fell threw the leaves onto the pavement beneath the pine trees. They both looked up. On the other side of the tunnel was to fantastic to describe. But they both knew whatever was beyond the tunnel, it was an adventure.

There once was a group of young birds that had once lived in space. They were lost on earth and knew no way to get back to their homes. Even after searching for hours on end, they still couldn’t figure out how to get back. One suggested searching in the hills, and another wanted to look in the forest.
The two birds argued and argued until the smallest of the birds said, “Stop fighting! If you two truly wish to get home, then you might want to stop this nonsense!” The other birds told the youngest, “Be quiet! You don't know anything about this place, so let us do what we want to do!” They stayed in the same place, even after a whole day.
“Maybe tomorrow they’ll stop fighting,” the youngest bird thought. “No one could keep arguing for that long.”
The next day, the two birds woke the youngest by arguing. “The forest is so much harder to look in!” one bird exclaimed.
“How are we supposed to climb the hills?” said the other.
“Stop it!” said the youngest bird. “What is the point of fighting if we don't get anywhere?” As usual, the two older birds ignored the youngest, both thinking that he had no idea what he was talking about. The days went on, the two birds fighting and the youngest begging them to stop. The youngest eventually gave up trying to get the birds to stop, so he decided to venture on by himself. He thought to himself, “First, I shall look in the forest, then the hills, and finally the plains. If I don't find anything, I shall go back. ”
So the bird went on, searching in the forest. It was a struggle to weave around all the trees, but he managed. After a day’s search, he found nothing, so he moved on to the hills. He tried his best to climb the hills, even though it hurt his legs. Again, he didn't find anything. “I hope there is something in the plains,” he thought to himself. “I don't want to stay here forever.” So the bird moved onto the plains. It was much easier to travel in the plains since there were no obstacles that were in his way. He spent hours looking for a sign. Eventually, he lost hope. “I’ll never get home,” he sighed. “My brothers will be furious when I get back.” The small bird felt so much stress that he couldn’t sleep at night. He looked up at the sky until it turned dark. Then he suddenly realized, “Wait, what are those shining balls in the sky?” He stared at them, wondering what in the world they were. “GASP!!!! That’s my home!!” He flew up into the sky, gaining more and more speed as he went. Soon, he was at his home planet. Looking down he wondered,”Maybe I should go back to my brothers and show them the way back,” he said. “They would finally accept me!” The bird flew down, but when he was halfway down he knew, “They don't deserve this. If they really wanted to come here, they would have listened to me!” So the small bird traveled back up again and lived a happy life in peace.

By Kendall J Something About the Night Sky
My artwork is about me dreaming to go to the stars. What I drew is my vision of how the stars and the night sky looks like. Where everything is calm and peaceful. I am at the stars and exploring, and wondering where everything came from. Walking around very confused on how everything got there but, all I know that what I was seeing was very beautiful. So, I wondered around I noticed that no one really lived there. It was just...me. So I wandered around some more and I realized that I was all alone. Then, I heard this voice in my head that said that it wanted to go back home and go back to sleep like the rest of my family but, I didn’t know how to get back home so I stayed in place thinking on how to get back home. All of a sudden I saw a flash of light go past the corner of my eye. But, when I looked up I saw nothing but the blank night sky full of stars. So I started thinking again and I saw the same flash of light I saw before and so I looked up again and I saw the most amazing thing that anyone can ever think of or make. It was a shooting star. But, not just any shooting star it was up close. Some people just see it from earth but they don’t actually see what I was seeing right now. In my eye sight. It was glowing and for a second I thought that it was treasure. Next thing you know I see a whole wave of shooting stars passing by my eyes. I have an urge of stepping towards it and grasping it in my arms and bringing it back home with me and show my family. So, I decide to go towards it. I am only a few inches away from me. I take two more steps and reach out my hands and touch it. As soon as I touch something very magical goes through me. I touch it again so I’m sure that I know what I am feeling. But, the second time that I touch it, it burns my finger. But, I was certain that I felt something MAGICAL go through me when I touched it before. I look down at my hands and see a sparkly yellow and gold color on my index finger and my middle finger. I rub it between my thumb. It’s as soft as a baby’s skin. So I rub the rest of the magical cream on me. Then I realize that I am flying through the night sky. And, a few minutes later I find myself on the ledge of my bedroom window. When I settle myself back in my bed. And, while I was trying to go back to sleep I realize that the stars are people just in a different format. They brought me home. Apparently someone or something heard me. I just don’t know how…?. The next night I had kind of the same dream. I was up high away from with the night sky. But, this time I knew how to get home and I had something to get while I was up there. So, when I arrived at the night sky I was determined to see another shooting star… and guess what? I did! So, I went up to the shooting star and I touched it and received the yellow and gold cream on my hands, then I wished to go back home. I was flying through the air again with the yellow and gold cream in my hands. As soon as I got inside of my room I put the yellow and gold cream inside of a jar so I can save it until I am done with it. ( But, i don’t think that I will ever be done with this!!!) So, I treasure what I did at night while I was dreaming.
The End!!!
Andy Grant was a normal 34 year old man, he had a girlfriend named Maya and they lived together in a small apartment in Skokie with their golden retriever named Honey. Grant had a job in the Chicago as an interior designer. Maya worked on the other side of the city as a veterinarian. They had a lunch break at the same time so every day they would meet up to eat lunch. On day in the middle of April in a building two blocks down from the building where Andy works there was a power plant. The power plant had been looking for a new source of energy so they invited collage classes from local schools to come and see if the young smart students could eco-friendly sources of energy. They classes studied and talked to people at the power plant for about a week then left. The power plant gave the students two weeks to find a new source of energy. At the end of the two weeks the students returned to the power plant. They had two new ideas, the first idea was to heat up peaches so they melted then let it cool and heat it again so it evaporated into gas that you can use for energy. The second idea was to use solar panels on the roof so that they energy for the sun would be channeled to all the of the power plants customers. The power plan thanked the students and sent them home. They took a month of testing to see which source worked the best. In the end they chose to use the peaches for energy. Andy’s company was one of the customers of the local power plant. One day he was walking to work and then he realized that summer was starting and that when he got to work that he should ask his boss to turn on the ac. He remembered past years when he had been in work in the summer and it was so hot because the ac was broken. He was proud he had come up with this idea and was glad that for once he would not melt into his chair. As soon as he got to work he leapt up the stairs and rounding a corner to his boss’s office. He knocked on the door, a few seconds later his boss flew open. He strolled over to Andy and asked what the problem was. Andy responded with telling him to turn on the air conditioning. His boss agreed and walked a short way down the hall and flipped a switch at the end of the hall on the wall. He told Andy that is should start in a few minutes. Andy trotted back to his office and waited for the air to come on. A few minutes later he could hear the air start, then a few seconds later he started to smell a thick peachy sent. He worried a thinking how he such a terrible allergy of peaches. Then he felt it he looked at his hands that had been resting on his blue and green arm chair near the window, it was swollen to the size of his face. He lept through the air and down the stairs trying to get out of the building to escape the peach ac. As soon as he got out of the building he fell to the ground and fainted not knowing if he would ever be the same again.
